What We Believe

We believe there is only one God. God is eternal and is the creator, sustainer, and ruler of everything. God has three co-equal persons: the Father, the Son (Jesus Christ), and the Holy Spirit. These three persons are distinct but are of the same divine nature.

We believe Jesus Christ became fully human while remaining fully God. On incarnation, Jesus set aside his divine abilities. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born to a virgin, lived a perfect life without sin, and died on the cross to take the punishment for all of humanity's sins. Jesus' death was the perfect and complete sacrifice for all people and for all time. Jesus bodily rose from the dead on the third day, went up to heaven, and now sits at the Father’s right hand. Jesus leads the Church and is interceding for believers. One day, He will return to earth in a physical and visible way to rule as King.

We believe the Holy Spirit is God and has all of God’s qualities. He lives in everyone who believes in Jesus, marking them as God’s own at the moment of belief. He gives believers the power to live for God, as they choose to obey Him, confess their sins, and surrender to His guidance.

We believe salvation is a free gift offered by God through Jesus. Salvation brings forgiveness for all of a person’s sins, a new heart, and eternal life. Any person can receive salvation by putting their faith in Jesus in response to God's love, the Holy Spirit's work in the individual's life, and the Gospel.

Faith involves repentance from sin and trusting in Jesus as a person’s only Saviour and Lord. People cannot earn salvation by good deeds, baptism, church involvement, or anything else—it is offered as God’s grace and received by faith alone (Ephesians 2:8-9).

We believe good works can not save people. They are not a means to salvation, rather, good works are the sure outcome in the life of a person who has genuine faith in Jesus. Every believer is called to live a life full of good works through the power and leading of the Holy Spirit.

We believe all Christians are called to share the message of salvation through Jesus and to help others grow in their faith, as Jesus instructed in Matthew 28:18-20.

We believe that water baptism done by immersion is a command from God to all individuals who have put their faith in Christ. It declares publicly that a person has surrendered their life to Jesus (Romans 6:3-14, Matthew 28:19).

We believe that the regular observance of the Lord’s Supper (Communion) is a command from Jesus to all believers. It reminds us of who Jesus is, God's love and sacrifice for us, and helps us grow in love for Him and stay focused on living for God.

We believe the worldwide Church includes all who have trusted in Jesus as Lord and Saviour and follow Him. A local church is made up of believers in a certain area who commit to that church’s mission, vision, values, and beliefs.

This list doesn’t cover everything we believe. We believe that the Bible, made up of the 39 Old Testament and 27 New Testament books, is the complete, inspired, and perfect Word of God. It is inerrant and infallible, and is our final authority for truth, morality, and how we should live.
